Newel: Decorative Arts That Inspire
For four generations, Newel has inspired international collectors and designers with one of the most extensive decorative and fine arts galleries in the world.
A family business since 1939, our roots are firmly planted in New York, where we spent our earliest days furnishing some of Broadway’s most fabled productions. Today, we continue the tradition as the world’s premier decorative arts resource for distinguished private collectors and industry-leading designers.
From our vast collections to our curated gallery, we inspire our clients to discover the magic moment when classic style meets modern elegance.
Our current collection boasts over 10,000 extraordinary works from around the globe, with classic pieces dating from the 17th- to 21st-centuries, in addition to a trove of contemporary original designs and reproductions.
In 2015, we celebrated a significant expansion, with our curated services now offered at two new locations: a 9000-square-foot gallery and showroom in Manhattan, and a 55,000-square-foot building in nearby Long Island City, the permanent home to our extended collection.
What We Do
Our diverse collection of decorative and fine art can be seen in its entirety both online and in our remodeled showroom. Our inventory is unparalleled in the industry, ranging from 17th Century Italian to Art Deco and from Regency to Rustic; we offer the discerning buyer an opportunity that no dealer or antique show can rival.
As a full service operation, we are able to assist in the delivery, repair, refinishing, and installation of all transactions.
We offer inventory for rental for various lengths of time and base rental fees on a percentage of the retail price. Our rental business caters to television and motion picture productions, as well as window display, commercial photography, and event planning.
Unfortunately we cannot offer appraisal services, which fall under a distinct commercial specialization. If you are in need of such assistance, we recommend consulting a local member of the Appraisers Association of America or the National Art & Antiques Dealers Association of America.
4. Consignments and Purchases
We will consider the purchase and/or consignment of both estate and individual merchandise that we deem appropriate to the enhancement and diversity of our inventory.
