About J.C. Ibbetson

J.C. Ibbetson, also known as Julius Caesar Ibbetson, was a prominent British artist and furniture designer of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. He was born on December 29, 1759, in Leeds, England, and died on October 13, 1817, in Masham, North Yorkshire.

Consists of a resurrection of many previous periods and revival imitations including: Gothic, Tudor, Elizabethan, Rococo, and Neoclassic style. This period had a focus on dark woods, heavy fabrics, embellishment, engagement with newly developed imitation materials that were facilitated by the Industrial Revolution, and a tendency towards eclecticism.
